I love Keith and his amazing talents! I've been a fan of his since 2004! I loved his CDs, but like you said, he sounds as good live as the CDs....now that is talent! To me he should be way bigger than he is in country music and not in the shadows of an overrated artist like Kenny Chesney! In my opinion Keith is the ultimate entertainer and as far as I'm concerned he will always be Entertainer of the Year!

A school created specifically for country music, what a fantastic concept. I'd love to hear the perspectives from those who have attended before.

Casey Donovan....that rings a bell...who is she again??? Casey Donovan's impact on the music scene was shorter than an afternoon coffee break... in fact she is a good example of why Idol doesn't work, does Australia or at least the people voting know who is going to be a good artist for the country, I think not... The article below proves that Idol had it all wrong in 2004/5!

Article: Casey's heart's hardly in it
January 6, 2005

IN the latest embarrassment for Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan, she has been overtaken on the charts by an dol contestant who didn't even manage to make the finals.

Not only is Donovan being outstripped two-to-one by Idol runner-up Anthony Callea, her single Listen With Your Heart is this week sitting at No. 8 on the national ARIA singles chart, one place below Idol beatboxer Joel Turner's track These Kids.

Donovan's album For You is poised to drop out of the top 20. It has slipped dramatically down the charts after debuting at No. 2 three weeks ago and is sitting in 18th spot.

There are a lot of good singers that go through Idol I'm just not sure that the product they have to offer at the end is always going to be a successful venture. Damien Leith for instance is incredible as an artist in his own right, but Idol a mass media television program aimed at popular music culture, has created a product that did not have much impact on the top 40. Who is his market, I'm not sure, but I hope they know! Idol creates a novelty, forcing the winner to release a song written by them, which is always a terrible ballad about how much they've grown or how much they are thankful for the opportunity, here's a thought for Idol, let them write their own stuff and perform it, like Lisa Mitchell, I think the chances of success and fame will be better! Hopefully the most recent Idol winner Natalie Gauci will stick to her guns and shrug the Idol writers as soon as possible so she can write her own stuff, cause it will be astonishing.

Music festivals are always fun, to keep things in perspective there are a lot more people in the USA that love country music, for one there population is far greater than ours and thus their crowds of attendance at events would thus are higher. Thats not to take away how outstanding the event looks, as after looking over the web page it looks insane.
However in Australia we think its outstanding when more than 30,000 people attend a rugby league match, or in Newcastle's case 25,000 seeing how thats out stadium capacity. 25,000 people a day to go to a festival for us sounds huge, probably a near impossible feat considering we struggle to to fill major sporting venues.
I seriously doubt if more than 25,000 people don't show up to see Greenday at the Sydney cricket ground, what hope does a country music artist have of pulling such a crowd on a regular basis in Australia.
Country Thunder! I was wondering where are all the country music A lists were hiding, there are so many I have come across that just don't get a mention outside the country music scene, If your not a country music junkie, there is a lot of potential to become one, as once you start searching for the stars they all start coming up, the only problem is you can't listen to them all at once!

I think everyone is guilty of buying a Cd listening to it once then putting it into the archives for a while, i've noticed if i don't like a particular Cd i've bought to begin with and I continue listening to it, it grows on me, so much that I later become addicted! All music listening really takes is an open mind, for instance I use to only listen to pop/rock/pop punk forms of music...meanwhile my friends moved away from this form and only listened to screamo forms of music, which I hated! there was no car ride everyone could enjoy because of our differential music tastes...however of time and exposure to different bands, one day all of a sudden, I love screamo, well I love the melodic screamo mixed with talent singing and good music. So now I can enjoy most forms of music....although I can't ever see me warming to Rap.
I relation to the Taylor swift song, I honestly have no idea what that blogger was going on about, Taylors voice firstly is amazing! the music in the song probably could be a little better, but who cares; music doesn't EVER! have to be PERFECT! especially country music, its all about expression. If Taylor Swift was happy to release the song, in that way, then I think thats what people should accept...for every musicians sake, don't waste your time bagging out the ones you hate, when there is so many others to love! Personally if I don't like a song, I will just simply choose not to listen to it again, I don't tell the world about it, I move on, you only live once there is only so much music one can listen to in a lifetime; but I suppose every star has their critics; for good or bad publicity.

Thanks for shedding further light on the situation Steve;
I must admit I am amazed the quality of responses we have received from the world outside our little blogging group, its incredible! I mean I would've suspected a few comments from country die hard fans, but to get comments and responses from bands and the personal assistant of Lee Kernaghan; is just something else!

Lee continues to play the small venues too. Over this week he is out touring again in regional Australia.

With regard to the Pine Creek Rodeo, south of Darwin in the remote north of Australia and that Lee cancelled the concert ... It was the organisers decision to cancel the show due to problems catering for a larger than expected crowd.

The booking to perform a concert in Pine Creek has been in place for at lease six months and the cancellation came very much as a surprise for the Lee Kernaghan management team.

When speaking on ABC Radio Darwin today Lee spoke of his dissapointment over the cancellation of the music event but has encouraged Northern Territorians to get behind Pine Creek.

"Keep the town pumping and support The Orchestra Under The Stars Show and other festivities taking place in Pine Creek over the June 21 weekend"

Lee also said he was looking forward to coming back to the Territory as soon as possible.

Whats I think is interesting, when you mention her controversial line about doing coke on a toilet seat, how not the subject matter of drungs, but the fact she is a "muso" and after her experimenting with drugs has used her music as a form of therapy and expression. Which is what most "muso's" use music as. I agree with jac, you dont expect to see drugs, or much family differences within the country music scene! Unfortunetly it brings reality that even happy country bumkins cant escape the "opportunities" with in the industry at times.
